Maureen Currie

Independent Educational Consultant

Navigating the college application process can feel overwhelming for students and parents. For the past six years, Maureen Currie has helped students confidently move through every step of the journey, from identifying best-fit colleges to managing deadlines, refining activities, and crafting compelling essays that stand out to admissions readers.

Maureen discovered her passion for college counseling while volunteering in her local high school’s College & Career Center, where she regularly reviews UC Personal Insight Questions, Common App essays, and supplemental responses. She excels at helping students translate their real experiences into authentic, engaging stories that capture attention and reflect who they truly are.

As the parent of two college students currently thriving at the University of Arizona and UC Santa Barbara, and a high school junior at Leigh High School in San Jose, CA, Maureen brings recent, firsthand insight into today’s admissions landscape. Her guidance blends professional training with practical, parent-tested perspective.

Maureen holds a Certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from UC Irvine, is an active member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and adheres to its principles of good practice. She also brings a strong analytical background and project management skills as a Certified Public Accountant with a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics.
